Job Description

Pick up afternoon or evening sessions with a remedial learning centre in Kimberley and put your subject knowledge to work. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is Kimberley-based, with most of your time spent at a remedial learning centre.

What you'll actually do

Work through past exam papers and marking memos with learners
Log hours and sessions on the agency's booking system for payment
Set practice work between sessions and check it next time
Plan sessions that target the exact topics the learner is failing
Adjust your pace for learners with ADHD, dyslexia or anxiety
Prepare learners for control tests with short timed practice drills
Write a short progress note for parents after each session

Must-haves

Reliable internet and a quiet place to teach for online posts
Police clearance for work with minors
Own transport for home tutoring posts
Distinction or strong pass in the subject you'll tutor

Extra points for

Second language for learners who study in Afrikaans or isiZulu
Experience with IEB as well as CAPS papers
TEFL or TESOL certificate for English tutoring
