Job Description

Here is work for a technician who can find a leak fast and gas a system up properly, with the supermarket refrigeration contractor in Kuruman. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a supermarket refrigeration contractor on the Kuruman side of Northern Cape.

What your day looks like

Pressure test with nitrogen, pull a deep vacuum and charge with R410A, R32 or R134a
Recover refrigerant into cylinders and log every kilogram used
Service cold rooms, display fridges and freezers on planned maintenance routes
Diagnose faulty compressors, fans, contactors and control boards
Respond to temperature alarms from cold rooms before stock is lost
Replace thermostatic expansion valves and electronic controllers
Clean coils, replace filters and check drain lines on scheduled services

You'll need

Code 08 driver's licence, since the job is mostly on the road
Understanding of single- and three-phase control circuits
Comfortable on roofs and ladders in summer heat
At least 2 years servicing commercial or residential systems

Helpful, not essential

Transport refrigeration units on trucks and trailers
Building management system alarm handling
Experience with VRF systems or chillers

Standby pay for weekend fridge breakdowns
Company vehicle with a fitted tool rack
