Job Description

Keep cold rooms cold and offices cool for the hospital building services team in Mthatha. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is Mthatha-based, with most of your time spent at a hospital building services team.

What you'll actually do

Commission new systems and show the client how to use the controls
Pressure test with nitrogen, pull a deep vacuum and charge with R410A, R32 or R134a
Clean coils, replace filters and check drain lines on scheduled services
Diagnose faulty compressors, fans, contactors and control boards
Install split units, cassettes and ducted systems, including brazing and vacuum work
Complete service reports on a tablet and have the site manager sign them
Recover refrigerant into cylinders and log every kilogram used

Must-haves

At least 2 years servicing commercial or residential systems
Understanding of single- and three-phase control circuits
Code 08 driver's licence, since the job is mostly on the road
Refrigeration and air-conditioning trade test or an NQF 4 occupational certificate
