Aircon Installer (Residential)

The cold chain logistics company in Kariega needs an HVAC technician who knows both the electrical side and the refrigerant side. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Location: Kariega, Eastern Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Check chiller log sheets and water treatment on building service visits
• Service cold rooms, display fridges and freezers on planned maintenance routes
• Install split units, cassettes and ducted systems, including brazing and vacuum work
• Pressure test with nitrogen, pull a deep vacuum and charge with R410A, R32 or R134a
• Complete service reports on a tablet and have the site manager sign them
• Diagnose faulty compressors, fans, contactors and control boards

• Understanding of single- and three-phase control circuits
• Brazing, flaring and vacuum skills you can demonstrate
• Refrigeration and air-conditioning trade test or an NQF 4 occupational certificate
• Comfortable on roofs and ladders in summer heat
• At least 2 years servicing commercial or residential systems

• CO2 transcritical refrigeration experience in retail stores
• Experience with VRF systems or chillers

• Standby pay for weekend fridge breakdowns
• Company vehicle with a fitted tool rack
• Manufacturer training on new equipment ranges
• Gauge manifold, vacuum pump and recovery unit issued to you

• Mention whether you are comfortable on standby. Most service jobs in this trade include it.
• Say which refrigerants and system types you have worked on. A recruiter for supermarket work wants to see CO2 or large rack systems.
