Apprentice Motor Mechanic (merSETA) – Immediate Start

Good with a scan tool and a torque wrench? This used car dealership workshop in Harrismith needs you in a bay. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is Harrismith-based, with most of your time spent at an used car dealership workshop. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Keep your bay, tools and special service tools clean and counted
• Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services
• Road test vehicles before and after repairs
• Update control unit software when the manufacturer releases a campaign
• Diagnose engine, ABS and airbag faults with an OBD-II diagnostic scanner
• Carry out roadworthy pre-checks on lights, brakes and steering

• Code 08 licence so you can road test cars
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop
• Your own basic toolbox

• Brand-specific training certificates from a manufacturer academy
• Automatic gearbox or DSG repair experience
• Air-conditioning regas experience with SAQCC Gas registration

• Staff discount on parts and services
• Tool allowance or tool insurance
• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates
