Armed Patrol Driver (Suburban Area)

Serious work for a serious officer: armed response across a suburban residential area in East London. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

The site is in East London; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Carry out visible patrols through the sector between call-outs
• Give first aid at an incident until paramedics take over
• Visit clients for key-holder checks and open-up requests
• Search the property perimeter and check doors, windows and gates
• Write detailed incident reports on the tablet or in the vehicle logbook
• Check the firearm in and out of the safe at shift start and end
• Respond to alarm and panic signals sent by the control room

• Able to work 12-hour rotating shifts
• Valid Code 8 or Code 10 licence with at least 2 years driving
• PSIRA Grade B or C with an armed response course
• At least 2 years in guarding or response
• SAPS firearm competency certificate for handguns (and shotgun if required)

• SAPS, SANDF or reservist background
• First-aid Level 2 or 3

• Regular refresher shooting practice
• Group life cover through the provident fund
• Danger and night allowances
• Response vehicle and firearm provided

• Put your firearm competency and armed response course at the top. Without both, the CV is not read further.
• Bring the originals of your certificates to the interview. Armed companies verify them before a shooting test.
