Job Description

This gold mine shaft complex near Alberton needs a trade-tested artisan who is safe, quick and thorough on breakdowns. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

The work is in Alberton, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

What you'll actually do

Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls
Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines
Maintain pumps, fans and compressors in shafts and on surface
Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles
Complete job cards and work orders in SAP after each task

You'll need

N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
