Artisan Assistant (Mining Engineering) – Immediate Start

You'll keep machines, conveyors and shafts running at the gold mine shaft complex near Kuruman. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll be based at a gold mine shaft complex in Kuruman. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure
• Test and maintain flameproof electrical equipment in coal sections
• Complete job cards and work orders in SAP after each task
• Help with rope inspections and shaft maintenance during scheduled stoppages
• Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls
• Guide and teach an artisan assistant on the job
• Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles

• Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
• N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
• Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
• Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
• Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
• Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)

• Study assistance for engineering qualifications
• Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox
• Artisan allowance on top of basic pay
• Housing support in the mining town

• Mention underground or flameproof experience clearly. It separates mine-ready artisans from factory artisans.
• Your trade test certificate must show the trade and the date. Keep a certified copy ready because mines verify it.
