Job Description

This iron ore mine maintenance workshop near Thohoyandou needs a trade-tested artisan who is safe, quick and thorough on breakdowns. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Home base is an iron ore mine maintenance workshop on the Thohoyandou side of Limpopo. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

The work, day to day

Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines
Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure
Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers
Help with rope inspections and shaft maintenance during scheduled stoppages
Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls

You'll need

Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
