Artisan Fitter (Conveyor Maintenance)

Bearings, gearboxes, pumps and lathes: this beverage bottling plant in Secunda needs your hands on them. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

The site is in Secunda; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying.

• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems on production lines
• Follow the lockout procedure before any work on machinery
• Record work and spares used on the job card or CMMS
• Align shafts with a laser alignment tool after every drive change
• Help with electrical fault-finding on motors and sensors as a millwright
• Build and repair press tools, jigs and moulds

• Basic understanding of the General Machinery Regulations
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop
• Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
• N2 or N3 engineering subjects
• Willing to work shifts, standby and weekend shutdowns

• Forklift licence for moving heavy parts
• Food safety awareness for food and drink plants
• CNC programming experience

• If you can machine parts as well as fit them, say so clearly. Many factories want both skills in one person.
