Job Description

Quality and speed go together at this wiring harness factory in Gqeberha. You'll be part of that. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

The site is in Gqeberha; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying.

What you'll actually do

  • Check parts for defects before they go into the vehicle
  • Take part in kaizen ideas to improve your station
  • Assemble components at your station within the line cycle time
  • Follow standard work sheets and quality checkpoints at every step
  • Record production counts and scrap on the shift board
  • Pull the andon cord when a defect or safety issue appears
  • Keep your station clean using 5S rules

What you need

  • Lives close enough to reach the plant on time for every shift
  • Able to stand for a full shift and do repeat tasks without losing focus
  • Able to pass a basic literacy and numeracy test
  • Willing to work rotating shifts, including nights

Helpful, not essential

  • Basic computer skills
  • NQF 2 in Automotive Manufacturing and Assembly through merSETA

What's in it for you

  • Transport from nearby townships on some routes
  • Shift allowance and paid overtime
  • Staff canteen with subsidised meals
  • Learnership opportunities toward an artisan trade

Applying, step by step

  1. Read the "What you need" list above. If you tick most of it, go ahead and apply.
  2. Keep copies of these ready to send: Grade 12 results, certified copy of your ID book or card plus proof of address.
  3. Fill in the short form below with your name and a phone number you actually answer.
  4. If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 8 working days, usually by phone.

Tips to get shortlisted

  • Many plants recruit through learnerships first. Watch for merSETA learnership adverts and apply early.
  • Include any factory or line work you have done, even outside the car industry. It shows you can handle shift work.
