Assembly Line Operator (Component Plant)

Work on the line where every station counts, at the wiring harness factory in Newcastle. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Location: Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Check parts for defects before they go into the vehicle
• Take part in kaizen ideas to improve your station
• Keep your station clean using 5S rules
• Pull the andon cord when a defect or safety issue appears
• Wear the correct PPE, including gloves, glasses and ear protection

• Grade 12 certificate
• Lives close enough to reach the plant on time for every shift
• Willing to work rotating shifts, including nights
• Able to pass a basic literacy and numeracy test
• Can follow written and visual work instructions

• NQF 2 in Automotive Manufacturing and Assembly through merSETA
• Basic computer skills

• Learnership opportunities toward an artisan trade
• Shift allowance and paid overtime
• Transport from nearby townships on some routes

• Put your maths and English marks on your CV. Plants often use them to screen before the assessment.
• Include any factory or line work you have done, even outside the car industry. It shows you can handle shift work.
