Assistant Site Agent (Roads & Stormwater) – Fixed-Term

This general building contractor in Kimberley needs someone who can read the drawings and get a building out of the ground. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is Kimberley-based, with most of your time spent at a general building contractor. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Check workmanship against drawings, specifications and SANS 10400
• Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection
• Coordinate subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, roofing and glazing
• Chair the weekly site meeting and record actions for the principal agent
• Plan the week's work from the construction programme and brief the gangs each morning

• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
• National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
• Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites
• Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act

• Concrete technology short course
• Experience on JBCC or GCC 2015 contracts

• A common mistake is listing only company names. Say what you built, for example "32 walk-up flats, 3 storeys".
• Add a short project table to your CV: project name, type, rand value and your role. Contractors hire on project size.
