Au Pair / Nanny (After-School Care)

You'll keep a family home in Ballito clean, calm and running smoothly for the family. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Home base is a family home on the Ballito side of KwaZulu-Natal. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Clean windows and patio doors once a week
• Help an elderly person with meals, medication reminders and light walking
• Prepare simple meals or school lunches when asked
• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon
• Wash, hang, iron and fold the household's laundry
• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals
• Dust furniture, ornaments and skirting boards

• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share
• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• Good with children and patient
• South African ID or valid work permit
• Neat, organised and able to work without being supervised

• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer
• Transport money for live-out staff
• Written contract with fixed hours and duties
• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires

• Ask for a written contract and to be registered for UIF. Good employers expect the question and it protects you.
• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
