Au Pair / Nanny (After-School Care)

A family in Brakpan wants someone they can trust with their guesthouse with family quarters and their children. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is Brakpan-based, with most of your time spent at a guesthouse with family quarters. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals
• Keep a list of cleaning supplies running low for the employer
• Change bed linen and make beds
• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon
• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas on a weekly rotation
• Help an elderly person with meals, medication reminders and light walking
• Dust furniture, ornaments and skirting boards

• Able to speak and understand basic English
• South African ID or valid work permit
• Good with children and patient
• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share

• Experience caring for an older person
• A driver's licence for school lifts
• Non-smoker

• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts
• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer
• Written contract with fixed hours and duties

• Ask for a written contract and to be registered for UIF. Good employers expect the question and it protects you.
• Families hire on trust, so make references your strongest part. Write the employer's name, suburb, years worked and phone number for each one.
