Good with a scan tool and a torque wrench? This independent service workshop in Brakpan needs you in a bay. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is in Brakpan (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Carry out scheduled services to the manufacturer's checklist and interval
• Road test vehicles before and after repairs
• Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services
• Keep your bay, tools and special service tools clean and counted
• Update control unit software when the manufacturer releases a campaign

• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4
• At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop
• Your own basic toolbox
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Code 08 licence so you can road test cars

• High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training
• Automatic gearbox or DSG repair experience

• Tool allowance or tool insurance
• Productivity bonus on sold hours above target
• Manufacturer training courses paid by the dealer
• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates

• Put your trade test date and the car brands you know best at the top of your CV.
• Attach manufacturer training certificates. They can move you up a technician grade and pay band.
