Automatic Gearbox Technician – Experienced

Good with a scan tool and a torque wrench? This fleet maintenance workshop in Kempton Park needs you in a bay. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Home base is a fleet maintenance workshop on the Kempton Park side of Gauteng. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Carry out scheduled services to the manufacturer's checklist and interval
• Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services
• Write clear job card notes on what you found and what you fixed
• Do wheel alignments and balancing on the alignment bay
• Carry out roadworthy pre-checks on lights, brakes and steering
• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts

• At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop
• Confident with diagnostic scan tools and wiring diagrams
• Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
• Code 08 licence so you can road test cars

• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates

• If you hit or beat your sold-hour target, say by how much. Workshop managers love that number.
• Attach manufacturer training certificates. They can move you up a technician grade and pay band.
