Automatic Gearbox Technician

You'll service, diagnose and repair cars in a busy used car dealership workshop in Klerksdorp. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

The work is in Klerksdorp, North West, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Road test vehicles before and after repairs
• Update control unit software when the manufacturer releases a campaign
• Carry out scheduled services to the manufacturer's checklist and interval
• Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services
• Carry out roadworthy pre-checks on lights, brakes and steering
• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts
• Write clear job card notes on what you found and what you fixed

• At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Code 08 licence so you can road test cars
• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4

• Automatic gearbox or DSG repair experience
• High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training

• Manufacturer training courses paid by the dealer

• Attach manufacturer training certificates. They can move you up a technician grade and pay band.
