Automotive Technician (Diagnostics) – Experienced

You'll service, diagnose and repair cars in a busy fast-fit tyre and service centre in Paarl. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll report in Paarl. Relocation is not covered for this one.

• Write clear job card notes on what you found and what you fixed
• Quote extra work you find and pass it to the service advisor for approval
• Do wheel alignments and balancing on the alignment bay
• Carry out roadworthy pre-checks on lights, brakes and steering
• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts
• Diagnose engine, ABS and airbag faults with an OBD-II diagnostic scanner
• Carry out scheduled services to the manufacturer's checklist and interval

• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Confident with diagnostic scan tools and wiring diagrams
• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4
• Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
• Your own basic toolbox

• Automatic gearbox or DSG repair experience
• High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training

• Tool allowance or tool insurance
• Manufacturer training courses paid by the dealer
• Staff discount on parts and services

• Do not leave gaps unexplained. Say if you were working for yourself or doing mobile repairs.
• Attach manufacturer training certificates. They can move you up a technician grade and pay band.
