Job Description

Service is busy at this conference centre kitchen in Cape Town CBD, so steady hands and a tidy station matter here. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

You'll be based at a conference centre kitchen in Cape Town CBD. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What you'll actually do

Plate to the spec photo so every dish looks the same.
Cook steaks, burgers and grills to the temperature on the docket.
Help cost recipes and track waste on the weekly sheet.
Cook for banquets and conference lunches of 100 to 400 guests.
Clean down your section, deep-clean the fryer and scrub the extractor filters.
Bake breads, pastries or desserts for the morning buffet.

Must-haves

Good knife skills and you can prep at speed
Comfortable in heat, on your feet, for long split shifts
You know food safety basics under R638 and HACCP
1 to 3 years in a busy commercial kitchen
Weekend, holiday and evening work is part of the deal
