Job Description

Good service at a busy mall coffee shop in Cape Town CBD starts with you: friendly, quick and on top of every order. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a busy mall coffee shop in Cape Town CBD. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What your day looks like

Carry plates to the right seat without auctioning food at the table.
Pull espresso shots and steam milk for flat whites and cappuccinos.
Set tables, polish cutlery and glasses, and check condiments before doors open.
Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
Check back two minutes after mains land and fix problems on the spot.

What you need

At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
Own transport or a safe way home after late shifts
You can stand and walk for a full 8-hour shift
Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus
Quick with basic maths and card machines
Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure

Extra points for

Wine knowledge from a WSET Level 1 or wine farm stint
Responsible Service of Alcohol training
A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans
