Bar Attendant (Weekend Shift) – Fixed-Term

Good service at a sports bar and grill in Midrand starts with you: friendly, quick and on top of every order. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is Midrand-based, with most of your time spent at a sports bar and grill.

• Split bills, process card payments and handle tip-outs at the end of shift.
• Restock the bar fridges and help with the weekly stock count.
• Set tables, polish cutlery and glasses, and check condiments before doors open.
• Carry plates to the right seat without auctioning food at the table.
• Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
• Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.
• Greet guests, seat them and hand over menus within a minute of arrival.

• Quick with basic maths and card machines
• At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
• You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
• Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus

• Responsible Service of Alcohol training
• A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans

• Paid menu and wine tastings so you can sell with confidence
• You keep your own tips, paid out daily or weekly
• Late-shift lift home within a set radius

• Put the names of the restaurants you worked at and your average covers per shift at the top of your CV.
• Recruiters ask about a difficult table, so have one real story ready about how you turned it around.
