Barista & Floor Waitron

You'll look after tables at a sports bar and grill in Brakpan, from the first greeting to the final bill. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a sports bar and grill in Brakpan. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Split bills, process card payments and handle tip-outs at the end of shift.
• Pull espresso shots and steam milk for flat whites and cappuccinos.
• Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
• Take orders on the POS tablet and read them back to avoid kitchen mistakes.
• Set tables, polish cutlery and glasses, and check condiments before doors open.
• Clear, wipe and reset tables fast during the Friday and Sunday rush.

• Quick with basic maths and card machines
• You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
• Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus
• You can stand and walk for a full 8-hour shift

• A barista course certificate or latte-art skills
• A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans
• Responsible Service of Alcohol training

• You keep your own tips, paid out daily or weekly
• Staff meal on every shift
• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Late-shift lift home within a set radius
