Good service at a busy mall coffee shop in Fourways starts with you: friendly, quick and on top of every order. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll be based at a busy mall coffee shop in Fourways. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Check back two minutes after mains land and fix problems on the spot.
• Pull espresso shots and steam milk for flat whites and cappuccinos.
• Carry plates to the right seat without auctioning food at the table.
• Clear, wipe and reset tables fast during the Friday and Sunday rush.
• Greet guests, seat them and hand over menus within a minute of arrival.
• Explain specials, allergens and wine pairings in plain words.
• Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.

• You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
• Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus
• You can stand and walk for a full 8-hour shift
• At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
• Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure

• A barista course certificate or latte-art skills
• Responsible Service of Alcohol training
• Wine knowledge from a WSET Level 1 or wine farm stint

• Late-shift lift home within a set radius
• Paid menu and wine tastings so you can sell with confidence
• You keep your own tips, paid out daily or weekly

• Recruiters ask about a difficult table, so have one real story ready about how you turned it around.
• Walk in with your CV between 2pm and 4pm when managers have time, not during lunch or dinner service.
