Berry Picker (Tunnel Farm)

You'll pick, prune and look after crops on a berry tunnel farm near Kuruman through the season. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

The site is in Kuruman; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Fill crates or bins and carry them to the collection point
• Weed beds by hand or with a hoe
• Pick fruit or vegetables at the right ripeness and size, gently
• Move irrigation pipes and check drippers for blockages
• Keep your picking card or tag count for daily pay
• Clean and store picking bags, ladders and secateurs

• Careful with fruit, since bruised fruit is rejected
• Willing to start at sunrise

• Farms hire before the season starts, so apply four to six weeks early. Late arrivals often find the teams already full.
