Boilermaker (Mine Surface Workshop)

You'll keep machines, conveyors and shafts running at the iron ore mine maintenance workshop near Sandton. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Home base is an iron ore mine maintenance workshop on the Sandton side of Gauteng. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers
• Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure
• Complete job cards and work orders in SAP after each task
• Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles
• Maintain pumps, fans and compressors in shafts and on surface

• Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
• Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
• N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
• Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
• Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)

• SAP PM module experience
• Experience with collision avoidance systems on TMM

• Study assistance for engineering qualifications
• Artisan allowance on top of basic pay
• Housing support in the mining town
• Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox

• Your trade test certificate must show the trade and the date. Keep a certified copy ready because mines verify it.
• Mention underground or flameproof experience clearly. It separates mine-ready artisans from factory artisans.
