Job Description

Good service at a beachfront cocktail bar in Umhlanga starts with you: friendly, quick and on top of every order. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Location: Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.
Pull espresso shots and steam milk for flat whites and cappuccinos.
Clear, wipe and reset tables fast during the Friday and Sunday rush.
Take orders on the POS tablet and read them back to avoid kitchen mistakes.

Must-haves

You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
Own transport or a safe way home after late shifts
Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus
Quick with basic maths and card machines
Happy to work nights, weekends and public holidays

Helpful, not essential

A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans
Responsible Service of Alcohol training
A barista course certificate or latte-art skills
