Bricklayer (Face Brick & Plaster Brick)

The residential renovation company in Atlantis needs skilled hands and helpers who know the basics of the building trade. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

The work is in Atlantis, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Fix roof trusses, purlins and brandering for ceilings
• Lay paving on a compacted, levelled bedding sand layer
• Lay face brick and plaster brick to line, level and plumb
• Carry bricks and materials to the workface and keep the scaffold clear
• Prime and paint walls, ceilings and woodwork in two or three coats

• Punctual every morning, even in winter
• Proven experience in at least one trade, shown by references or a practical test
• Willing to move between sites in the same city
• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside
• Able to follow a foreman's instructions and read basic measurements
• Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches

• CETA or NQF 2 or 3 certificate in your trade
• Trade test in bricklaying, carpentry or plastering
• Experience on NHBRC-registered housing projects

• PPE supplied: hard hat, gloves, reflective vest
• Weekly or fortnightly pay, always on time
• Chance to move up to a gang leader post
• UIF and COIDA registration from day one

• Say which trade you are strongest in first. "Bricklayer, 6 years, face brick" is better than "general construction".
• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
