Bricklayer (Face Brick & Plaster Brick)

Put your trade to work on the low-cost housing project in Kempton Park, with steady work for the length of the project. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is Kempton Park-based, with most of your time spent at a low-cost housing project. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Mix mortar and plaster to the right ratio for the job
• Cut, bend and tie reinforcing steel to the bending schedule
• Prime and paint walls, ceilings and woodwork in two or three coats
• Plaster walls and float them to a smooth, even finish
• Fix roof trusses, purlins and brandering for ceilings

• Safety boots of your own for the first week, if possible
• Punctual every morning, even in winter
• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside
• Willing to move between sites in the same city
• Proven experience in at least one trade, shown by references or a practical test

• CETA or NQF 2 or 3 certificate in your trade
• Trade test in bricklaying, carpentry or plastering

• PPE supplied: hard hat, gloves, reflective vest
• Transport from a pick-up point to site
• Chance to move up to a gang leader post
• Weekly or fortnightly pay, always on time

• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
• Be ready to do a short practical test on site. Arrive early with your own tools if you have them.
