Building Site Supervisor (Commercial Projects)

Here you run the site: labour, materials, quality and progress for the civil engineering contractor in Bloemfontein. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is Bloemfontein-based, with most of your time spent at a civil engineering contractor. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Plan the week's work from the construction programme and brief the gangs each morning
• Draw up snag lists and close them out before practical completion
• Order concrete, bricks and steel on time so gangs never stand idle
• Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection
• Check workmanship against drawings, specifications and SANS 10400

• Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
• Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act
• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
• Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool

• Worked on CIDB grade 6 or higher projects
• Experience on JBCC or GCC 2015 contracts

• Vehicle allowance or company bakkie
• Site accommodation on out-of-town projects
• Project completion bonus linked to handover date

• Mention the contract types you have worked on, like JBCC or GCC. It shows you understand claims and variations.
