Job Description

A small general practice law firm in East London has space for a law graduate ready to start practical vocational training. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll report in East London. Relocation is not covered for this one. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

The work, day to day

Take instructions from clients and write clear attendance notes
Appear in the magistrate's court on postponements and unopposed matters
Record your time on the practice management system every day
Keep matter files updated and diarise court dates and deadlines
Prepare affidavits and notices of motion for your principal to review
Issue and serve documents at the magistrate's court and High Court

What you need

Code B driver's licence and a reliable car for court runs
Willing to work late before trials and filing deadlines
Good legal research and clear written English
LLB degree from a South African university
