Job Description

You'll do your articles at a small general practice law firm in Cape Town CBD and learn the practice from the ground up. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Home base is a small general practice law firm on the Cape Town CBD side of Western Cape. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

What you'll actually do

Prepare trial bundles and discovery affidavits
Research case law and legislation on SAFLII and Juta or LexisNexis
Keep matter files updated and diarise court dates and deadlines
Issue and serve documents at the magistrate's court and High Court
Study for the LPC competency-based examinations alongside the work
Record your time on the practice management system every day
Prepare affidavits and notices of motion for your principal to review

What you need

Willing to work late before trials and filing deadlines
Code B driver's licence and a reliable car for court runs
Proficient in Word, Outlook and legal research databases
LLB degree from a South African university
Good legal research and clear written English
