Job Description

You'll design and supervise infrastructure people use every day, with the municipal infrastructure department in Stellenbosch. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is in Stellenbosch (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What your day looks like

Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts
Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162

Must-haves

Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors

Helpful, not essential

Registration with SAICE and active CPD
Master's degree in structural or water engineering
