Job Description

From MV switchgear to PLCs, this solar and battery project developer in Bethlehem needs a sharp electrical engineer. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is Bethlehem-based, with most of your time spent at a solar and battery project developer. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

What you'll actually do

Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
Set and test protection relays and keep settings records
Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser

You'll need

Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate

Nice if you have

PLC programming certification
Protection or HV operating authorisation
