Job Description

Power has to be safe, reliable and legal. The solar and battery project developer in Roodepoort needs you to make it so. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a solar and battery project developer in Roodepoort. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What your day looks like

Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2
Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser

You'll need

ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package

Extra points for

PLC programming certification
Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW
Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
