Candidate Mechanical Engineer (ECSA)

You'll keep the plant reliable and improve how it runs at the petrochemical plant in Lephalale. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll report in Lephalale. Relocation is not covered for this one. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Hold the GMR 2.1 appointment and keep machinery safety legal on site
• Run vibration, thermography and oil analysis programmes on critical equipment
• Analyse breakdowns with root cause methods and fix the cause, not the symptom
• Design conveyors, chutes and structures in SolidWorks or Inventor
• Mentor candidate engineers and artisans on technical problems
• Check pressure vessels for compliance with the Pressure Equipment Regulations and SANS 347
• Prepare the maintenance budget and report monthly on spend

• Working knowledge of the OHS Act and General Machinery Regulations
• Three or more years working as a qualified engineer, in industry or consulting
• Registered with ECSA as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate, depending on level
• Code 08 licence for site visits
• BEng or BSc Eng in Mechanical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist roles

• Government Certificate of Competency (Mechanical, Factories)
• Project management certificate
• Finite element analysis skills

• ECSA registration fees and CPD paid

• Show results in numbers: downtime cut by a percentage, savings in rand, or a project delivered on budget.
