Candidate Quantity Surveyor

You'll measure, price and manage the money on building projects for the main building contractor in Boksburg. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Home base is a main building contractor on the Boksburg side of Gauteng. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
• Track budget against actual cost and flag overruns early
• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules
• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs

• Code 08 licence for site visits
• At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor
• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify

• Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard
• Estimating software experience on top of Excel

• Hybrid days in the office and on site
• Travel allowance for site visits
• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
• Study support for an honours degree

• List projects with their contract value and whether you worked for the client side or the contractor side.
• Recruiters often give a short take-off test. Practise measuring a simple house plan under time pressure before the interview.
