Candidate Quantity Surveyor

This is a numbers job with boots on: bills of quantities, site measurements and payment claims in Epping. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Epping-based, with most of your time spent at a civils and earthworks contractor. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Update cash flow forecasts for the project manager
• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
• Prepare the final account at the end of the project
• Track budget against actual cost and flag overruns early
• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs
• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line

• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• Code 08 licence for site visits
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
• At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify
• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work

• Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard
• Estimating software experience on top of Excel
