Candidate Quantity Surveyor

The property development company in Soweto needs a QS who can price a tender and still defend a final account. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

Home base is a property development company on the Soweto side of Gauteng.

• Prepare the final account at the end of the project
• Measure work on site for monthly interim payment certificates
• Track budget against actual cost and flag overruns early
• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
• Take off quantities from drawings to build a bill of quantities
• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs

• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• Code 08 licence for site visits

• Honours degree in Quantity Surveying
• Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard

• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
• Hybrid days in the office and on site
• Study support for an honours degree

• Recruiters often give a short take-off test. Practise measuring a simple house plan under time pressure before the interview.
• List projects with their contract value and whether you worked for the client side or the contractor side.
