Candidate Quantity Surveyor

You'll measure, price and manage the money on building projects for the main building contractor in Umlazi. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Location: Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions
• Measure work on site for monthly interim payment certificates
• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules
• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
• Take off quantities from drawings to build a bill of quantities
• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
• Update cash flow forecasts for the project manager

• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify
• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
