Carpenter (Roof Trusses & Ceilings)

You'll build it with your hands: walls, floors, roofs and finishes on the housing development site in Boksburg. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll report in Boksburg. Relocation is not covered for this one. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Carry bricks and materials to the workface and keep the scaffold clear
• Build and strip formwork for columns, beams and slabs
• Lay paving on a compacted, levelled bedding sand layer
• Lay face brick and plaster brick to line, level and plumb
• Cut, bend and tie reinforcing steel to the bending schedule

• Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches
• Proven experience in at least one trade, shown by references or a practical test
• Willing to move between sites in the same city
• Able to follow a foreman's instructions and read basic measurements
• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside
• Safety boots of your own for the first week, if possible

• UIF and COIDA registration from day one
• Chance to move up to a gang leader post
• Transport from a pick-up point to site

• Be ready to do a short practical test on site. Arrive early with your own tools if you have them.
• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
