Cashbook and Recon Clerk

You'll keep the books clean and up to date for a property management company in Fourways. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll be based at a property management company in Fourways. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Keep the filing system in order for the annual audit or review
• Capture supplier invoices and customer receipts on Sage or Xero
• Post month-end journals for accruals, prepayments and depreciation
• Send customer statements and phone accounts that are over 60 days
• Load supplier payments on internet banking for authorisation
• Reconcile bank accounts daily and clear unallocated items

• Accurate with figures and careful with supplier bank details
• Good with Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables and simple formulas
• Matric with Accounting
• Bookkeeping certificate or diploma (ICB, FASSET learnership or similar)
• At least 2 years of hands-on bookkeeping or clerk work
• Practical skill in Sage Pastel, Sage Business Cloud or Xero

• Knowledge of Sage Evolution or QuickBooks
• Registered with SAIPA or the ICB as a bookkeeper

• Hybrid work after probation at some practices
• Paid study leave for bookkeeping exams
• Thirteenth cheque at many small firms
• Office hours with no weekend work

• Name the accounting packages you use daily in your CV headline, such as "Sage Pastel Partner, Xero, Excel".
• Recruiters often give a short Excel or recon test, so practise a bank recon before the interview.
