Chiller Technician (Hospitals & Data Centres)

Keep cold rooms cold and offices cool for the supermarket refrigeration contractor in Klerksdorp. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Home base is a supermarket refrigeration contractor on the Klerksdorp side of North West. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Recover refrigerant into cylinders and log every kilogram used
• Pressure test with nitrogen, pull a deep vacuum and charge with R410A, R32 or R134a
• Check chiller log sheets and water treatment on building service visits
• Replace thermostatic expansion valves and electronic controllers
• Diagnose faulty compressors, fans, contactors and control boards
• Commission new systems and show the client how to use the controls

• Code 08 driver's licence, since the job is mostly on the road
• SAQCC Gas registration as an authorised person for refrigerants
• Refrigeration and air-conditioning trade test or an NQF 4 occupational certificate
• Brazing, flaring and vacuum skills you can demonstrate
• Understanding of single- and three-phase control circuits

• Transport refrigeration units on trucks and trailers
• Building management system alarm handling
• Experience with VRF systems or chillers

• Standby pay for weekend fridge breakdowns
• Manufacturer training on new equipment ranges
• Company vehicle with a fitted tool rack

• Say which refrigerants and system types you have worked on. A recruiter for supermarket work wants to see CO2 or large rack systems.
• Mention whether you are comfortable on standby. Most service jobs in this trade include it.
