Chiller Technician (Hospitals & Data Centres)

Keep cold rooms cold and offices cool for the hospital building services team in Krugersdorp. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll be based at a hospital building services team in Krugersdorp. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Complete service reports on a tablet and have the site manager sign them
• Pressure test with nitrogen, pull a deep vacuum and charge with R410A, R32 or R134a
• Replace thermostatic expansion valves and electronic controllers
• Recover refrigerant into cylinders and log every kilogram used
• Check chiller log sheets and water treatment on building service visits

• Refrigeration and air-conditioning trade test or an NQF 4 occupational certificate
• Code 08 driver's licence, since the job is mostly on the road
• At least 2 years servicing commercial or residential systems
• Comfortable on roofs and ladders in summer heat

• Company vehicle with a fitted tool rack
• Gauge manifold, vacuum pump and recovery unit issued to you
• Standby pay for weekend fridge breakdowns
• Manufacturer training on new equipment ranges

• Say which refrigerants and system types you have worked on. A recruiter for supermarket work wants to see CO2 or large rack systems.
• Mention whether you are comfortable on standby. Most service jobs in this trade include it.
