Job Description

Keep cold rooms cold and offices cool for the air-conditioning maintenance company in Potchefstroom. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Home base is an air-conditioning maintenance company on the Potchefstroom side of North West.

The work, day to day

Diagnose faulty compressors, fans, contactors and control boards
Complete service reports on a tablet and have the site manager sign them
Recover refrigerant into cylinders and log every kilogram used
Pressure test with nitrogen, pull a deep vacuum and charge with R410A, R32 or R134a
Respond to temperature alarms from cold rooms before stock is lost
Install split units, cassettes and ducted systems, including brazing and vacuum work

What you need

Refrigeration and air-conditioning trade test or an NQF 4 occupational certificate
Brazing, flaring and vacuum skills you can demonstrate
Code 08 driver's licence, since the job is mostly on the road
SAQCC Gas registration as an authorised person for refrigerants
Understanding of single- and three-phase control circuits

Extra points for

Experience with VRF systems or chillers
CO2 transcritical refrigeration experience in retail stores
Transport refrigeration units on trucks and trailers
