Chiller Technician (Hospitals & Data Centres)

Here is work for a technician who can find a leak fast and gas a system up properly, with the air-conditioning maintenance company in Pretoria West. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll report in Pretoria West. Relocation is not covered for this one. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Clean coils, replace filters and check drain lines on scheduled services
• Complete service reports on a tablet and have the site manager sign them
• Pressure test with nitrogen, pull a deep vacuum and charge with R410A, R32 or R134a
• Install split units, cassettes and ducted systems, including brazing and vacuum work
• Respond to temperature alarms from cold rooms before stock is lost
• Recover refrigerant into cylinders and log every kilogram used
• Service cold rooms, display fridges and freezers on planned maintenance routes

• SAQCC Gas registration as an authorised person for refrigerants
• Code 08 driver's licence, since the job is mostly on the road
• Brazing, flaring and vacuum skills you can demonstrate
• Refrigeration and air-conditioning trade test or an NQF 4 occupational certificate

• Experience with VRF systems or chillers
• Building management system alarm handling
• CO2 transcritical refrigeration experience in retail stores

• Manufacturer training on new equipment ranges
• Company vehicle with a fitted tool rack
• Gauge manifold, vacuum pump and recovery unit issued to you

• Your SAQCC Gas card must be current. Put the expiry date on your CV so nobody has to ask.
• Say which refrigerants and system types you have worked on. A recruiter for supermarket work wants to see CO2 or large rack systems.
