Chiller Technician (Hospitals & Data Centres)

The hospital building services team in Tzaneen needs an HVAC technician who knows both the electrical side and the refrigerant side. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll be based at a hospital building services team in Tzaneen. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Respond to temperature alarms from cold rooms before stock is lost
• Install split units, cassettes and ducted systems, including brazing and vacuum work
• Recover refrigerant into cylinders and log every kilogram used
• Clean coils, replace filters and check drain lines on scheduled services
• Check chiller log sheets and water treatment on building service visits
• Diagnose faulty compressors, fans, contactors and control boards

• Code 08 driver's licence, since the job is mostly on the road
• SAQCC Gas registration as an authorised person for refrigerants
• At least 2 years servicing commercial or residential systems
• Brazing, flaring and vacuum skills you can demonstrate
• Understanding of single- and three-phase control circuits
• Refrigeration and air-conditioning trade test or an NQF 4 occupational certificate

• Standby pay for weekend fridge breakdowns
• Gauge manifold, vacuum pump and recovery unit issued to you
• Manufacturer training on new equipment ranges

• Your SAQCC Gas card must be current. Put the expiry date on your CV so nobody has to ask.
• Say which refrigerants and system types you have worked on. A recruiter for supermarket work wants to see CO2 or large rack systems.
