Job Description

Roads, water, buildings: the civil engineering consultancy in eMalahleni needs a civil engineer who can take a project from design to site. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

Home base is a civil engineering consultancy on the eMalahleni side of Mpumalanga. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

What your day looks like

Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162
Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts
Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures

Must-haves

Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering

Helpful, not essential

Experience on public sector infrastructure projects
Registration with SAICE and active CPD
