Civil Engineering Technologist (Roads)

You'll design and supervise infrastructure people use every day, with the municipal infrastructure department in Alberton. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Alberton-based, with most of your time spent at a municipal infrastructure department. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Write design reports and handover documents
• Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
• Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue
• Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
• Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
• Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
• Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures

• Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
• Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
• At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
• Experience with structural or hydraulic design software

• Master's degree in structural or water engineering
• Contract management training for NEC or GCC

• Site allowance when you work as resident engineer
• Flexible working on design weeks
