Job Description

Roads, water, buildings: the bulk water utility in Mossel Bay needs a civil engineer who can take a project from design to site. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

The site is in Mossel Bay; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

The work, day to day

Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue
Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
Write design reports and handover documents
Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts

What you need

Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site

Helpful, not essential

Registration with SAICE and active CPD
Experience on public sector infrastructure projects
Contract management training for NEC or GCC
